FUTURE PREP PROGRAM - NEW NAME, SAME OPPORTUNITIES!

HHS is fortunate to have the AAUW (American Association of University Women), both  Healdsburg Rotary Clubs, and the Kiwanis Club sponsor the Future Prep Program, which is designed to help students explore different career options.  Career panels might include such topics as engineering, information technology, culinary arts, green jobs and health care services.  In alignment with our Common Core curriculum, we also identify adult experts in various fields to work alongside students in the classroom.  Future Prep supports the junior internship program by exposing students to a variety of possibilities before they select their job placements.

Now in its ninth year, this program brings together professionals with a broad range of experience in an informal setting that allows students a chance to ask questions of experts.  Among other things, our volunteers share how many years of schooling or training is typical for that career, what the work is like, what they enjoy about their jobs, and typical starting and mid-career salaries. They emphasize the importance of "soft skills" in the workplace.
